The One Where She Learns Camera Shots

Camera Shots

  - To properly learn camera work, our Media Studies class not only went over videos and articles with definitions and examples of camera movements, shots, and angles but also created projects to practice them and show full understanding.

    - For the camera movements project, we had to create a short story with the theme "surprise." We had to make a storyboard and then a short video with 6 different camera movements. After it was done, we had to go over each movement we used in each scene and how that movement helped develop the story or convey the scene's meaning or tone to the audience.

    - For the camera shots and angles project, we had to tell a narrative story about an inanimate object with 15 still picture slides, using 15 camera shots or angles. We also had to explain what was happening in each shot and the purpose of the angle/shot.

    - I think that making the stories and getting the shots right was relatively easy, the only challenge my groups ran into were actually coming up with a story that line up with the movements, shots, or angles was the hardest part.

    - These projects made me understand the definitions of each subject better by visualizing them and using them myself to make a story. Just writing notes wouldn't have let me understand it fully.

-I think that next time, I'll develop my ideas quicker and better to come up with a better ending product.
